See all 20Bold pages can feel thin once you have done a few; intricate pages can feel like work. Medium detail is the middle that most people settle on — one clear subject, enough internal pattern to be interesting, and shapes you can reach with an ordinary pencil kept reasonably sharp.
Mid-weight linework is forgiving ground for building colour in passes. Lay the first layer down lightly across the whole shape, then go back and darken only where the form turns away from the light. Two colours worked at three pressures will read as six. The blending guide goes into the specifics.
At this level of detail, choosing colours shape by shape is what makes a page take all evening and still look busy. Pull three to five pencils, put the rest of the tin away, and let repetition do the work. A limited palette reads as a decision rather than a shortage.
